If you like farm equipment and have a sense of humor, follow my daily journey as I work our farm and visit others.
Trevor is a 6th generational farmer, whose family began farming as homesteaders over 100 years ago in Buckeye, Arizona back in 1891. We grow, harvest, and store feed for wholesale and retail customers to purchase throughout the year.

We're More Efficient Than You Think
In my day we bailed by hand
Excellent footage of just how this machine works. All mechanical too - no electronics anywhere - so cool and clever at the same time.
ONLY a hay farmer will get this .. ROFL !!
Not true
It's true I've seen it happen a few times
retired concrete finisher, it will drain them and rookie finishers sitting on bare concrete will develop hemroids
That is something we've done my entire life. We also bring batteries that aren't in use into the basement in winter. I had a NAPA battery last 16 years. When I took it in for core the NAPA guys crowded around. They didn't believe it had died that day. I don't care who believed me.
hey trevor we were out to the ranch last week i saw drew and we had good conversation with carl from chicago !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1bought a hat saw the long horns and the hay you were read to bale awesome our son and now daughter in law live 11 mes from ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Thank you for coming out! Sorry I missed you.
Used to be battery trays in cars were Metal. That conducts electricity as well so you concrete thinkers are out with your moisture theory. What actually was taking place on concrete was the temp difference between ambient and the floor, causing the electrolytes to react and discharge. What does it say on a battery? STORE IN A COOL DRY PLACE. A wet cell battery's biggest enemy is HEAT. Isolating a battery from temperature differences thus allowing the electrolyte to be stabile is more conducive to successful storage. Where they are used daily and charged it's not.
I heard that also when I was young
3 tie Bales ,,????
If it's not dry enough it will stack burn
So you're telling me this guy Bales Hay Bales, while having a last name of....wait for it ...Bales...? Sounds like some gubment shill shiz,...but I bought a couple hats and shirts anyway,...at least they have worked properly for years, through many tests, sweat and all the p*ssy I've gotten while... They paid for themselves. Unlike the gubmen...shut up Dano!!! Keep feeding AMERICA Ponyboy! Buy a hat, buy a shirt, you'll get an awesome photo of....😅...find out. 💪🏻🇺🇲👍🏻
Rowse probably has more tires because it has more rake wheels. Which mens longer frame sides.
20 years ago, an interstate battery guy explained, back in the day the battery case would leak/drain. Modern batteries are immune to that problem.
Heard a driver lost a load of hay on the freeway here in Phoenix earlier this week? Was that your truck ? I hate being the news maker for the day! Love the videos, keep them coming.
BS
What drill do you use to plant with row space ? Fields look awesome nice rows close together. Thanks for sharing
I can't stop watching
Question on the stacker or road sider(whatever you call it). In a full stack does the driver manually change the way each layer is stacked or is there a computer that is programmed to automatically change each layer to how you want it stacked? I know the change in each layer is to interlock the layers, same as what we used to do manually stacking on a hayrack decades ago, but just wondering if he did each layer manually or if it was automatic.
Hi! Great question. The old style was all manual!!! But these new ones, for the past 15 plus years have computers. You can create different set ups. This is the combination we like!
Hey Trevor, sometimes ya just gotta bale it! You know! Rowse should be able to be closer and follow the ground better with those wheels.
finally paid $17 a bale today in Norco!! 110lbs.. hooray for us!!
Too heavy for my liking. That’s cheap!
Looks like you are off to a good start.
I noticed the Darf rake picks up more dirt/dust than the Rowse.
Lots of stem moisture
Lots!!
Now days running most modern farm equipment is like being a airline pilot. You are basically there to monitor the computers.
Do you ever bale just plan grass? From Ireland and the only hay we've ever done is grass hay
We bale regular Bermuda grass.
Hi 👋🏻 Trevor bales.
Hello there!
High moisture high weight, you know that
Where is your moisture tester
My back seat with a dead battery!!
You don’t need a moisture tester anyone that has bailed a lot of hay can tell if it’s ready to bail by just looking at it and the smell of it
I agree and can too, he was stabbing bales with it one day so I was being sarcastic but also get a real number.
flakes defined again as??
Each stroke of the balers plunger creates a flake or a portion of the overall bale. Usually 3" or more thick depending on the size of the square baler. Small bales 3", big bales thicker.
I hauled two 100 bale stacks of alfalfa a couple days ago with my stack retriever. When I got to the destination, the retriever trailer had a hard time raising up to set the stack on the ground. I called the grower and asked him how heavy he baled the alfalfa. He said it was a little dry when he baled it so he set the tensioner at 375. I think those bales were the old school 16 bales to the ton. The buyer was happy that he got his money's worth. I did not want to throw those bales around by hand to lighten the front of the stack so I could raise the bed.
I have to ask, 2YEARS for a new squeeze? Why that seems really long!
They are the only people that make it. Very very custom.
The haybob tedder rake is faster and does a better job in grass hay ! Also feeds into the baler better.
This can be used with alfalfa or grass. That haybob would destroy alfalfa.
@@BalesHayFarmandRanch Just the grass. The hay bob sets the hay up so it feeds more evenly no roping and its easer on the baler.NH 166 windrow inverter works well on alfalfa .
What is customer appreciation day? Is there a sale on hay?
Hi, we do it once a year and we offer huge huge discounts on hay, bagged feed, and other stuff.
I’m living in Oregon now, but when we spent the winters in Ajo, I always drove up and got my hay from you! It was always the best. I am flood irrigating my field here. It is not level and floods everything except where I want it. Is it worth disking and leveling a 1 acre pasture? The rest of the property gets water as it should. Or should I just get a box and level without loosening the soil up. I think I would get a better pasture if I did. Thank you. I miss Buckeye!
Oh man! Not many people know about Ajo. Well, I hate to give you this answer. But without seeing the property. It’s really hard to say what the correct answer is.
do you enuculate your new seeding?......man, you probably have huge nitrogen content on your soil samples
`Do they ever set the hydralics up with multi-funtion joystick controls? older backhoes were simiular to what your sqeeze hydralic, but now almost all backhoes have joystick controls
They can do it, but it’s expensive and hard to fix when they break. This way is very simple. Not many problems. Easy to fix.
I get it! Makes sense
He loads pretty quick. Imagine if the truck was a 1/2 mile closer, How quick would that be?
WHAT IS THE SPACING ON THE STEEL BARN POSTS?....AND WHAT WIDTH X LENGHT IS THE BULDING?
Early season or late season green hay and a PTO baler…. What could go wrong.
I miss Jay on Instagram
Man your tough stacking bales bare handed!
If it were a lot of bales, I’d have my gloves on.
Hope the boys and wife are doing well . Man that was a line of customers
Manties is what you were looking for
Heard you on Millennial Farmers Channel the other day, sounded like you had your nuts in a vice. I don't put anything past what youll do for attention. 🤔🫣😒 🚜🚜🚜
What happened to the forklift conversation yard unit, you were putting together.
It’s here! It’s running!
No, it's not true. I've heard that tell all my life
No, it's not true,
Reminds me of old days stacking hay by hand. Good thing it doesn't happen too often.
